InterCulture (www.interculture.org.uk) has a track record of delivering a range of successful cultural and diverse programmes, innovative events, publications and conferences especially designed to connect with diverse communities in the region. Outcomes relating to our programmes and projects have raised regional and national awareness in race and diversity with strategic partnerships that have worked effectively with government policies and guidelines. This has enabled the InterCulture brand to facilitate effective networks in order to communicate and build upon cultural connections. Strategically InterCulture has promoted diversity with a wide range of sectors. We have fully utilised the innovation and talents directly from those communities and particularly with women in the regeneration areas in the region.
As part of the ongoing development of the above programmes InterCulture presented a series of networking events from April 2008 with an innovative brand to connect with diverse women in the region under the banner of Connecting Enterprising Women. The aim to create an informal but strategic structure of women from the 'grass roots' communities forming a 'hub' of diverse entrepreneurial women currently not involved in any of the key sectors or organisations in the region. We also wanted to create opportunities to make a difference in women's lives by forming Connecting Enterprising Women. The pilot project was an UnLtd Millennium Project in 2007. Connecting Enterprising Women also played a part in the evaluation of the Womencentre Halifax for the Reaching Out Project 2010 funded by the Big Lottery.
Events held during 2008-9 in the region aimed to bring together for the first time key female enterprises and organisations to facilitate communication and networking opportunities. We are currently working towards presenting case studies of digital success stories, developing a role model structure, regards leadership and encouraging future entrepreneurs to come together for the centenary of International Women's Day 1911-2011 for enterprising women in the region.
